Pottery Class content:

This is a fun, hands-on pottery class where you work to your own ability with help close at hand. Although you are in a class with other students you are taught on a one-to-one basis. The classes will contain a maximum of eight students to ensure that each student gets attention. There is a relaxed atmosphere and the pottery class workshop is within an art gallery.
You’ll learn the basic hand-building technique of working with clay called pinching. This is the first technique that is taught as it gives awareness of the feel and texture of clay. You will also learn how to create texture in clay and through demonstration how to apply colour through the use of coloured slips and glazes.
The pottery class is an introduction taster suitable for Beginners. You will gain experience of working with clay with the option of having your finished piece fired (additional charge see charges page for details) so that you can take it home 2 – 3 weeks later.
You will develop an understanding of the possibilities that clay offers as a material to work with and learn through demonstration the process required to achieve a finished piece.
There will be a 15 minute demonstration at the beginning of the course detailing the lesson plan of the session. Light refreshment will be provided.
